Hidden Gems: Meet Alisha M. Pennington of Pennington Perspective
Today we’d like to introduce you to Alisha M. Pennington. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Alisha completed her undergraduate education in athletic training at Florida State University. She attended California State University, Fullerton for her master’s in Kinesiology and started her own contract athletic training company, ATvantage shortly after in 2012. She grew that business to $1mill+ within four years and has now hit multi-million in revenue.
As a result of the success from her first company, she subsequently started additional companies. Her and her husband began business mentorship unofficially in 2016, establishing Pennington Perspective in 2020. They now focus on helping other entrepreneurs start and scale their ideas through business development mentorship.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Coming into the online world in early 2020, we had no real experience selling our services via social media or the internet; our other companies relied on personal relationships and in-person connections. Since we know what happened in March 2020, it impacted how many people were online and looking for virtual services. The marketplace became flooded, making it difficult for us to stand out.
We waded through the waters most of 2020, with majority of our focus being on serving the current clientele we had, but not growing in any way. By 2021, we had found more of our messaging and direction, so we began to launch while showing up more branded in the online space. This still proved to be difficult, as we were “new” had little “authority” (despite our near ten years of experience) so we still struggled to assert our services in the space.
Moving into 2022, we finally decided to get back to our roots and what we knew: working within personal relationships and creating in-person opportunities. As a result of re-aligning to our authentic selves, we saw lots of success and have found a way to serve in a way that doesn’t solely rely on social media or the internet. It took 2 years of “trying to fit in” before we found our way back to ourselves and leaned into what we know works.

Pennington Perspective has a wide range of clients. From clients who are just starting to develop their business ideas to established business owners and even corporate clients.
Our strategy is divided into three different paths. For those in the Idea Phase, we help business owners create viability for their business idea through competitive analysis & market research. We have a mini-course, Business Viability Benchmark, that walks the aspiring business owner through the necessary research to determine if their idea is viable and sellable.
For those in the Start-Up Phase, we build strong foundations so that the business owner can then flourish with a business that is built to last. Our Start-Up Incubator is a crash course in all things business entity, business formation, legalities, accounting, and how to pay yourself. It goes beyond just creating an LLC and actually demonstrates how to run a legally sound business from the very beginning.
For others, in what we call the Scaling Phase, Pennington Perspective actually travels to businesses to work immersively with clients. Our Self-Made Accelerator offers the option of coming to us, us coming to you, or virtual group cohorts. One of our most flexible and integrative curriculums, we have seen owners completely transform their business models into scalable operations as a result of this work.
We are firm believers in the power of identifying the phase of a business to then execute adequate strategies for success. However and most importantly, Alisha and Maurice are advocates for people to believe in themselves and their ideas and to take control of their lives.
