Meet Maurice Pennington | Small Business Consultant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Maurice Pennington and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maurice, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
Friedrich Nietzsche said “He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how.” To that end, I think that one’s level of endurance and perseverance is directly correlated to their belief in their why. Whether it is within themselves, a cause, or something else entirely, the depth of that belief will dictate if there ever comes a time to not keep going. This does not mean one does not pivot, change, or evolve. But it does mean when you find a deep enough why, there is very little reason to give up working towards it. So, my answer is your “Why” will inform you. Therefore, it is critical that you identify, acknowledge, and remain connected to it.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
As a result of building and scaling my wife’s company over the last decade, we realized first hand what being an entrepreneur can do for you in this country. There is so much power in it and we want to empower others to leverage their abilities to take advantage of what is available. We started Pennington Perspective with that in mind. We took the frameworks and tools we developed building her business and we’re sharing them with others to support their version of success.

In a world of sales, marketing, and branding, our business lives amongst the often overlooked and the unsexy. The online business coaching space is filled with promises of sales and quick fixes. We don’t promise increased sales from the work we do. We promise to walk alongside our clients and help them build sustainable businesses, systems, and processes that will ensure that they have the infrastructure to support the success they aspire to. We know that each business is different and each entrepreneur has different life circumstances; therefore, we mold our services around those differences to ensure they walk away with dialed in strategy to address their particular needs. Long term sustainability is our objective and I’m most proud that we have remained true to ourselves in delivering on that promise.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Speaking of often overlooked, we live in the West Valley! We get that it isn’t Scottsdale, but we’ve got some pretty cool things to do on this side of town too! It really depends on the time of year, but if I could mash them all together we’d hike the White Tanks and enjoy the views and then a brunch up at The Vic in Verrado. Arizona sunrises/sunsets are some of the best I’ve seen, so we’d ride a hot air balloon to take in the sights. We’d enjoy a couple rounds of Top Golf in Glendale and maybe catch a film in a Harkins Cine 1. Then we’d head out east for a day of shopping at Kierland Commons and enjoy a meal at Culinary Dropout. We’d recommend a hike up Camelback and then I’d take them to a Phoenix Mercury basketball game.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife Alisha. It is rare that a person has mentor within their own household, but I do. She a constant example of pursuing ones dream and working towards that dream while serving others. She has shown me approaches to life that I otherwise may never have allowed myself to see. It is extremely fulfilling to serve others, but even more so to serve them together. I am beyond grateful to live life alongside her and I could not imagine doing it any other way!
